Abstract

The rapid growth of Online Food Delivery Services (OFDS) has transformed the way consumer access and consume food, especially in the post-pandemic digital economy. Understanding the behavioural factors influencing consumer adoption of these platforms has become increasingly vital for businesses and researchers alike. This literature review critically examines the determinants of consumer adoption behaviour using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) as a conceptual foundation. The study systematically analysed and synthesized findings from 28 peer-reviewed national and international studies published between 2012 and 2025, covering diverse socio-economic and cultural contexts. The review reveals that constructs such as performance expectancy, price value, habit, and hedonic motivation are consistently strong predictors of behavioural intention, while the influence of effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions varies significantly across demographic groups and geographic locations. The paper concludes by highlighting future research directions, including the need for mixed-methods approaches, hybrid models, and cross-cultural comparisons. By consolidating fragmented findings, this review offers a robust foundation for academic inquiry and practical strategies for enhancing user engagement in the OFDS sector.
