Abstract
Purpose:
This paper aims to examine how selected characteristics indicators impact on performance measures of outreach and profitability in micro-finance institutions (MFIs).
Design/Methodology/Approach:
The study is an exploratory nature. The data is
taken from 42 micro-finance institutions. A panel data technique is employed as the key analytical framework.
Findings:
It is shown that the characteristics play a critical role in the performance of MFIs. Find that size and number of offices has positive impact on micro-finance institution.
Research limitation/Implications:
Data availability and accessibility is a limitation. Micro-finance institutions in India do not provide their annual report on regular basis.
Originality/Value:
Society may get the benefits because outreach level will increase and poor people access to credit and their standard of living will increase.
