Abstract
This paper explores the multifaceted shifts in the role of libraries as they navigate the digital era, focusing on their pivotal role in safeguarding intellectual freedom. This paper delves into the strategies libraries employ to harness the power of digital resources, such as e-books, online databases, and multimedia content, to enhance accessibility and broaden the scope of information available to users. This paper examines the evolving ethical responsibilities of libraries in the digital landscape and the measures they implement to protect user privacy and uphold intellectual freedom. Furthermore, the paper explores the role of libraries in promoting digital literacy and information literacy skills. As gatekeepers to vast reservoirs of information, libraries play a crucial role in empowering users to critically evaluate digital content, navigate online spaces responsibly, and participate in the digital discourse with a heightened awareness of intellectual freedom. The study draws on a comprehensive review of literature, case studies, and interviews with library professionals to provide insights into the innovative strategies libraries employ to adapt to the digital age while preserving their commitment to intellectual freedom.
