Abstract

This paper examines how internal network ties of nascent entrepreneurial teams of technology-based ventures (TBV) impact their team performance. We argue that several dimensions reflecting teamwork quality within strong and weak network ties are essential determinants of entrepreneurial team performance. Hierarchical regression technique was applied to the sample of 98 nascent entrepreneurial teams comprising 230 co-founders of TBV in India. Results indicate that strong and weak ties in entrepreneurial teams do not directly impact team performance. Instead, the practice of strong and weak ties to openly communicate within the team, coordinate, mutually support each other, willingness to stay in the team and putting efforts into their respective work helps in their positive team performance.
