Abstract
This paper deals with interpersonal
orientation of supervisors
in Indian public and private sector
companies in the manufacturing/
engineering sector. Supervisors
are the intermediate category
of employees between
workers and managers in India.
One fundamental assumption
transactional analysis makes is
that everybody displays functional
and dysfunctional styles,
only the intensity varies from person
to person. Another fundamental
assumption this study
starts with is that functional styles
contribute towards the overall
effectiveness of people working
in organizations. The findings
make a case for re-examination
of deployment of supervisors in
organizations in public or private
sectors. The study makes a comparison
of supervisors between
public and private sectors.
