Abstract
The paper provides the historical evolution of the concept of Workers Participation in Management. Workers participation India has been influenced by the experience gained from the developed countries after the Second World War. The grievance resolution at the shop floor has recently been added by amending the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947. Though the practice of WPM has not gained enough momentum but in PSUs where the concept has been adopted has yielded positive results for increasing
productivity. The board level participation could not really see the light of the day, however, the bill is pending for consideration.
