Abstract

In this research our main objective is to design an elbow draft tube with varying diffuser angle and to find out the optimized model for the same or with enhanced diffuser angle. In order to enhance the design methodology as compared to the conventional draft tube design, adopting the simulation method to resolve the problem of draft tube design and to reduce the cost of prototyping and to get the improved results by using computational fluid analysis in ANSYS 14.0 by CFX solver. Considering seven cases of elbow draft tube and the various cases of H/D & L/D ratios to improve efficiency and pressure at outlet. The same analysis has been performed for different Cases with same boundary conditions. By referring various literature reviews the main problem is to design the arrangement for various inlet cone length and diffuser angle. This research is focused to evaluate the various deviations by varying the length to diameter ratio and height to diameter ratio.
