Power PSUs are the Public Sector Companies
involved in Generation, Transmission and Distribution
of Electricity in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India.
Electricity is in Concurrent list and hence both the
Central and the State Governments have their own
rights and duties in this sector. Government of India
pushed forward the reform process by enacting The
Electricity Act 2003 which delicensed Generation of
Electricity and mandated the State Governments to
demerge the erstwhile State Electricity Boards into
separate PSU Companies for Generation,
Transmission and Distribution business. This study
focuses on the affects of the unbundling process. Indepth
study of the audited financial statements
including the Balance sheets and the Profit and loss
statements of these Companies has been done to find
out the fate of these companies after a decade of
the start of the reform process.
