Abstract
The electronic initiatives have been introduced by MCA in India and have been partially adopted by
the companies as well. However, the provisions related to virtual meetings, which have not been
mandated by the regulations yet, have not been brought to practice by organizations in India. This
study undertakes to discuss various e-initiatives in India including electronic delivery of documents,
virtual shareholder meetings, electronic voting, and to analyze the role of such initiatives in enhancing
and ensuring better corporate governance from the shareholders viewpoint. Such initiatives are bound
to impact the participation level of shareholders and their role in the companies and thus, it is important
to know and analyze their opinions. For the purpose of evaluating shareholders outlook and perception,
a questionnaire was framed and circulated amongst shareholders. A total of 301 shareholders responded
and their responses have been assessed using various statistical tools.
