Abstract

Those of us related to academics whether it is science, research, innovation or any other sub-disciplines, desire to achieve success and feel happy and satisfied. The rate of success, satisfaction and ultimate happiness may be highly varying owing to our perceptional heterogeneity. However, there are some rules if one follows, success becomes feasible and even under most challenging conditions, it may not be impossible to achieve. Historically, many notable discoveries have been attributed to serendipity. Nonetheless, in order to reach the level of serendipity, creation of an environment that allows serendipity to sprout at the right time under the right condition is highly crucial. This situation warrants imagination, constant efforts and never to give up attitudes. Present chapter explores the nuances of serendipity in the light of historical perspective and examines science, serendipity and success in their larger realms. Today, we live in a world where information technology has superseded every other field. In addition, deep learning, machine learning and artificial intelligence have impacted the generation, annotation, accumulation and dissipation of knowledge in a big way. Cloud computing has added a newer dimension to the conventional concept of computing involving different, more advanced algorithms, engaging technology, tools and resource intensive approaches. Many of us are at a loss to deal with the huge influx of information even in a highly specialized area of a subject. One possibility may be that we manage our desired dose of information in a staggered manner to be able to make the best possible use of it without losing our focus from the main theme. The other approach is to use AI for our work to lessen the burden. These nuances are useful to almost all the branches of science and literature including humanities, theology, languages, international relation, judiciary, banking, defence, telecommunication, architecture, engineering, space technology and Medical Science. A large number of disciplines have been listed in this article with their immediate succinct meanings. It is envisaged that this article would be thought provoking, entice and engage people who desire to get the best of the tool, techniques and technology without feelings burnt out in comtheir areas of specialization. Achievement of intellectualism should be the objectives of every educated person so that the society in general and country in particular becomes a hub of knowledge to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat.
