Abstract
The present study is a citation analysis of 306 social sciences theses containing 58664 references submitted to Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha Library, Punjabi University Patiala. The data is analysed in order to find out average citations per thesis, different forms of citations, electronic/print version of citations, chronology of citations, half-life period of book and journal citations, place of book citations and core journals. A ranked list of journals is compiled to find out the most cited journal. Economic and Political Weekly is the most used journal among the social science researchers. The journal distribution of the present study is as per Bradford law of scattering.
