Abstract
The paper explores information seeking behavior of the scientists working in the universities, examines their information seeking patterns and methods to retrieve and effectively use information for research and teaching. A thoroughly planned structured questionnaire was designed for data collection and subsequent interpretation. Personal interviews were conducted to fill in gaps if any in the questionnaire. Collected data was analyzed with the help of SPSS. The results of the study show that majority of the scientists seek information for research and updating their knowledge, use internet in their departmental personal room and use databases for research. Taking some deductions from the findings of the study, some suggestions have been put forward to improve the e-information seeking ways of the scientists.
