Abstract
The paper compares data manipulation techniques across
various databases. It explores the improvement in
managing different types of data including spatial data.
The comparison also takes into account primitive database
systems or file systems till the advanced Spatial databases.
The paper highlights the fact that as concepts evolved
across systems, front-end became easier and back-end took
the bulk of task in manipulating data.
