Abstract

India was considered to be one of the fastest growing telecom markets in the world with subscriber base nearing 900 million subscribers in September 2013. India witnessed growth registering Customer Annual Growth Rate of around 34% over the last decade and had left analysts around the world totally in AWE. Among the various segments, cellular or mobile segment had been the key contributor and specially prepaid services, with the wide offerings of packages, had been leading the growth wave. With the 3G allotment, the sector grew at a good rate riding on better and a whole new range of services. But with the hit of recession the telecom sector also suffered problems for holding their customer base. It is high time for cellular companies to formulate innovative marketing practices to increase customer satisfaction to hold on to the existing subscribers and attracting new ones at the same time.
