Abstract

Assessing organizational politics’ effect on employee engagement in Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues was the aim of this study. To this end, a quantitative research approach with explanatory research design was employed. Questionnaire was developed and used for data collection purpose. Descriptive and inferential analysis was also conducted. The results of the study reveal a negative and moderate association of organizational politics and employee engagement. It was observed that 47.4% variance in employees’ engagement was caused by organizational politics. Accordingly, to minimize adverse impact organizational politics has on employee engagement level introducing as well as taking measures that reduce individual’s political behaviors by making procedures and standards in a clear way and with effective communication channels should be in place. It is also recommended that the managers of Ministry of Revenues should introduce policies and strategies that enhance the engagement level of employees related to implementing competitive and attractive compensation package, giving appropriate recognition and rewards for excellent performers, establishing open communication, healthiest employee relation, and participatory management.
