Abstract
The objective of the study is to look at the trend in resistance to change during a social movement and specifically Anna Hazare’s movement. The most striking feature of this nation-wide movement is that all forms of mass protests, demonstrations, and hunger strikes throughout the movement were absolutely non-violent. Anna was able to get support of millions across the country but throughout the movement Anna had to face different forms of resistances. In this paper we are exploring the trend explaining the different forms of resistances that Anna came across during his movement. Though the results of the study are case specific, still we get an insight of the various factors that contribute to resistance to change in a democratic setup. We are trying to explain resistance to change during the movement both analytically and methodologically.
