Second Language (SL) Learning is a unique and complex process in which the involvement of the teacher and the learner is crucial. The need for effective teaching strategy including strategies to motivate the students in SL learning has become part of English Language Teaching (ELT) methods. The learners’ active role in their learning is evidential when they use learning strategies in their learning context. Strategy use by both the teachers and the learners are crucial in the L2 context. While the teacher is making a variety of means- the use of one method or another or through a combination of procedures in their teaching, the learners, too, aim at using some techniques to learn the language. This conceptual paper attempts to explain various strategies employed by the teachers and learners in the English as Second Language classroom.
