Abstract
Tourist mindfulness makes tourists conscious and non-judgmental throughout their travel journey. Destination image and tourist perception help tourists to have a great experience. Understanding mindfulness across their journey facilitates a positive destination image and more meaningful experiences. This study investigates the role of tourist mindfulness (TM) in enhancing the tourist experience (TEX), with destination image as a mediating factor, focusing on tourists visiting Haryana. This research used PLS SEM 4 to analyze the results on 313 tourists as its respondents. The findings proved that the relation between mindfulness and tourist experience is insignificant, and the destination image significantly and positively mediates the relationship between TM and TEX. The results brought to light the influence of mindfulness on the travellers’ behavior; destination image plays the role of supporting marketing and branding to develop unforgettable, good experiences. A holistic approach that could be applied to India’s tourism environment is underpinned by aligning tourism strategy with more mindfulness, better branding, infrastructure, local participation, and wellness alliances. The study also discusses the limitations, ramifications, and future research prospects.
