Abstract
Through a bibliometric analysis of 315 papers indexed in the Scopus database between 2000 and 2025, this study aims to explore global research trends on technology adoption and its impact on the performance of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Using co-authorship, co-citation, keyword co-occurrence and journal productivity mapping, the analysis identifies the most important countries, authors, journals and research issues related to the topic. The findings indicate that the leading contributors in the field of research on MSMEs and technology are Indonesia (119 papers) and India (115 articles). The phrase “MSMEs” is the most commonly used, with 157 instances, demonstrating its importance in the literature. With 297 citations, the Journal of Cleaner Production is the most widely used publication platform. Sustainability is ranked second with 212 citations. With 91 citations for his work on technology adoption and MSME performance studies, Kumar is the most important author. The paper finds that concerns, including digital transformation, Industry 4.0, innovation and sustainability, are driving the rapid expansion of research in this field. These results offer a thorough grasp of the conceptual framework in the field and offer possibilities for more study and legislative measures to enhance MSMEs’ adoption of technology.
