Abstract
Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is a new transportation option that uses electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft to transport people and goods. It is an alternative mode of transportation that uses airspace and can potentially offer benefits such as faster connectivity, and reduced congestion within and between cities. The eVTOL system uses specialised infrastructure known as vertiports, located usually at the terrace of a building, to pick up and drop off passengers. This project aims to locate vertiports for a highly congested metropolitan city. We use unsupervised machine learning techniques for this purpose. Our analysis uses one million real-world New York City taxi records from 2010 which are publicly available.
