Abstract
One major issue of wireless sensor networks and in Internet of Things is to identify the actual or relative position of the sensor node. The information gathered at base station isn’t useful, if the position of the node is unknown. Localization is the process or technique used to estimate the position of a sensor node and it plays an important role in networking and various other applications of wireless sensor networks. This paper elaborates the different localization approaches based on variable techniques and key features. It also discusses the important factors used to validate the techniques and their performances. Networks with obstacles are more common. The new learning based localization methods have been discussed to reduce the impact of obstacles.
