Abstract
An entrepreneur owning a proprietary business would be faced with corporate social responsibility (CSR) as soon as he converts his proprietary concern into a corporate entity. In India, Companies Act, 2013 has made CSR provisions mandatory for specified companies. This article tries to analyse the impact of such mandatory provisions on an entrepreneurs psyche and whether it is justified to ask an entrepreneur to contribute towards social welfare.
Whether such provisions would result in loss of entrepreneurial will or on the contrary, whether these provisions would help corporate entities become sustainable business enterprises?
