Abstract
Tourism as an important global activity is as old as human civilization.
Its manifold influence on the functioning of economic systems
needs no emphasis. However, tourism is affected by a wide range of
variables. Global economic slowdown and growing terrorism standout
to be highly significant in the growth and sustenance of tourism both
global as well as domestic. Travel industry as a whole is confronted
by changing economic situation and outbreak of terror incidents.
Tourists disposition towards travel and business strategies emerge
as vital areas of concern for all stakeholders during such crises, as
tourism is not just an economic activity alone but a tool to integrate
people of various regions emotionally. Cutting edge research with
clear cut objectives which could contribute to tourism industry and
academics by addressing global economic slowdown and terrorism
is the need of the hour. Accordingly, this paper attempts to examine
impact of slowdown and terrorism on tourism and suggest methods
to bail out the industry from the present state of turmoil.
